For this
assignment, imagine that you will be attending a career fair consisting of
human service organizations from the following professions:
Generalist human services work
Creative arts therapy
Counseling
Social work
Note: You may find it
helpful to search the Internet for human service agencies or organizations in
the area that most interests you, and then identify available jobs on their Web
sites. By looking at the job functions or qualifications, you can determine
what may be appropriate characteristics and skills needed for the job.

Choose a company or
organization in the fields or professions listed above that you would consider
working for to begin your human service career. Before you attend the career
fair, you decide to put together in a cover letter a brief synopsis of the
characteristics and skills you would bring to the organization. Because you
have just started your associate’s degree program, you do not have much
experience in the field, but you believe that you possess some of the
characteristics needed for an entry-level position in your chosen career.
Write a 350- to
700-word cover letter in APA format outlining the characteristics and skills
you possess. Explain how you would apply these characteristics and skills to a
specific position within their organization. Refer to the specific characteristics
and skills discussed in Ch. 5, for example,

and match them to the job qualifications
listed on the agency’s Web site. Be sure to provide the Web site location of
the company or organization’s list of job qualifications.
